Abstract
Specifies the characteristics of pipes made from unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U) for piping systems in the field of water supply. Also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this standard. Applicable to extruded PVC-U pipes without a socket and pipes with a socket (integral or not), intended to be used for: water mains and services buried in ground; conveyance of water above ground for both outside and inside buildings; for the supply of water under pressure at approximately 20°C (cold water) intended for human consumption and for general purposes. Also applicable to pipes for the conveyance of water up to and including 45°C. Covers a range of pipe sizes and pressure classes and gives requirements concerning colours.
Document History
Collectively parts 1 to 5 of BS EN 1452 supersede BS 3505:1986, BS 4346-1:1969 and BS 4346-2:1990. Since those British Standards are the basis of piping systems with a design life of at least 50 years, it is intended that they will be declared obsolescent by 26/6/2001. These parts also partially supersede BS 4346-3:1982. AMD 10999 is Corrigendum No.1. AMD 12005 is Corrigendum No.2.
