Abstract
Section 607 is part of the IEE Wiring Regulations, 'Special installations or locations', and applies to all circuits with high earth leakage currents, defined as over 10mA. But now, with the widespread use of information technology equipment, these circumstances are no longer 'special' and high leakage currents can be found in most homes and certainly in all offices and shops. Section 607 gives very specific guidance for dealing with earth leakage currents in a variety of circumstances but since this publication is intended for technicians working in the domestic and small commercial sector, only the methods applicable to ring circuits are discussed.
