Abstract
Gives guidance for architects, surveyors and building owners, on the repair and reroofing of traditional stone slates roofs in England. It deals specifically with stone slates from sedimentary rocks (mainly limestone and sandstone) rather than with real slates, which are from metamorphic rock. As the material and methods of stone slate roofing vary from region to region, it concentrates on general principles. For guidance on the specific local roofing types and methods, advice should be sought from the local planning authority.
