Abstract

Many existing Filler Beam Bridge Decks have no transverse reinforcement or an insufficient amount, yet they seem to have performed satisfactorily in service. This report describes investigations into the adequacy of such bridges, considers their implications and makes recommendations for assessments in accordance with current standards.
