Contractor Report 156 Non-destructive detection and mapping of ASR cracking in concrete
Publication Year
1989
Document Status

Abstract
Investigates the first stage of the development of a non-destructive testing system, for use on concrete bridges, which could determine the extent of internal cracking, due to alkali silica reaction, and the orientation and depth of such cracks. The system would need to be able to scan the concrete surface, discriminate between cracks, reinforcement and other embedded materials, and be robust and portable. This first stage is a desk study to identify likely methods and demonstrations of methods judged to merit further development.
