Abstract
Provides guidance on the development of management arrangements for the safe and economic handling and disposal of clinical waste. Gives background information on clinical waste disposal, briefly describes the options available, current strategies in NHS trusts, European initiatives, and management responsibilities including statutory requirements. Monitoring and quality assurance procedures are discussed, including the monitoring of both the clinical and none-clinical waste streams.
