Abstract
Establishes the principles for the development and use of environmental labels and declarations. The labels should be accurate, verifiable, relevant and not misleading; they should not be prepared, adopted, or applied to create unnecessary obstacles to international trade; they should be based on scientific methodology to support the claim; the information on which the labels are based should be available and provided upon request to all interested parties; the life cycle of the product should be taken into consideration; and the labels should not inhibit innovation which maintains or has the potential to improve environmental performance.
