Abstract
Summarises the data collected, and the extent and effects of overloading, from a random sample of 1644 goods vehicles (3. 5 tonnes GVW and over), surveyed on the M6 at Doxey, in Staffordshire. Each vehicle was weighed and measured. It was found that even if those vehicles that contributed to road damage, by being overloaded, were removed, there would only have been a slight reduction in total vehicle road damage.
