Abstract

The brief set by the Institute was as follows: to examine critically district-wide plans and unitary development plans in order to make recommendations on the most appropriate style of plan and plan-scrutinising process; to achieve the results now required of the development planning system and; to examine critically the inquiry/examination in public process and pre- and post-inquiry procedures governing the preparation and review of unitary development plans and district-wide local plans, and to make recommendations for improving the process.
