Abstract
Applies to building limes used as binders for preparation of mortar (for masonry, rendering and plastering) and production of other construction products. Defines different types of building limes and gives their classification. Also specifies requirements for their chemical and physical properties, which depend on the type of building lime, and the conformity criteria.

Superseded by BS EN 459-1:2011. Amendment 14099 is Corrigendum No.1. Supersedes DD ENV 459-1:1995 and will Supersede BS 890:1995 in July 2003. This document is a candidate harmonized European Standard and takes into account the requirements of EC mandate M114 Cement, building limes and other hydraulic binders. Includes Annex ZA Provisions for CE Marking.
