Abstract
Wireless and tagging technologies have been successfully used in several sectors of industry and shown significant benefits to their users. The potential for cost savings and productivity improvement through the uptake of these information and communication technologies for the industry is estimated to be in hundreds of millions of pounds. Part 1 gives examples of where tagging is used in other industrial sectors, possible applications in the construction industry, and how the industry may be encouraged to adopt the technology.
