Abstract
These recommendations concentrate on the key aspects of property protection in warehouses and storage premises. Automated high bay warehouses, cold stores, chemicals warehouses and other warehouses presenting special hazards are excluded.

Formed from a merger of the Fire Offices Committee, the Fire Insurers Research and Testing Organisation and the Insurers Technical Bureau in 1984, the Loss Prevention Council (LPC) later went on to develop a certification body, the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), itself taken over by BRE Certification in April 2000. Other LPC documents are now available from the Fire Protection Association.
