Abstract

The Government wishes to ensure that flood risk is properly taken into account in the planning of developments and that measures are taken to reduce the risk of flooding and the damage which floods cause. This guideline sets out the Government's policy on the positive role of planning in achieving these aims and the lead responsibilities of local authorities.
