Abstract
Requirements are given for safe and independent access and use of lifts by people, including those with disabilities. Details are given for minimum car dimensions, car doors and landing doors which have automatic power operated horizontally sliding doors. Technical requirements are given to minimise hazards arising during the operation of lifts. Also covers accessibility issues for persons using wheelchairs. Can be used as guidance for upgrading existing lifts.
