Abstract
Provides an introduction to the use of self compacting concrete (SCC) which was originally developed in Japan to bring improved quality and durability to the concrete construction process. Over the last 10 years it has become increasingly used in Europe and other parts of the world for both pre-cast and cast in situ concrete, where its benefits also include reduced health and safety risks, increased productivity, and cost and labour savings.
