Abstract
Some automatic sprinkler systems will be affected by changes to mains water pressure. This document looks at the implications for the effectiveness of the installed system directly connected to the mains. Covers benefits of sprinklers, installations, water supply needs, legislation and conditions of water supply.

Formed from a merger of the Fire Offices Committee, the Fire Insurers Research and Testing Organisation and the Insurers Technical Bureau in 1984, the Loss Prevention Council (LPC) later went on to develop a certification body, the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), itself taken over by BRE Certification in April 2000.
