Abstract

Addresses fire safety in existing hostels. It discusses and makes recommendations on building layout, construction, fire protection facilities, fire safety management and other measures to minimise the danger to life from fire. The recommendations on fire safety management apply to all hostels. The other recommendations of the Guide are intended to apply to hostels which were constructed and in use as hostels prior to the coming into operation of the Building regulations in 1992.
