Abstract

Covers mortars for use in the construction of block and brick masonry. Four designations of mortars are covered in each of two alternatives specifications: performance specification in which the acceptability of the mortar is based on the properties and proportions of the materials and the properties of the mortar; and prescription specification in which the acceptability of the mortar is based on the properties of the ingredients (materials), the proportions of these materials, and the water retention of the mortar.
