Abstract

A sewage treatment system for single dwellings to serve a population equivalent of up to 8 persons, consisting of two precast polypropylene fibre reinforced concrete tanks. The tanks are cast in two halves so that, when assembled together take the form of a cylindrical shape although each tank is watertight in its own right. After treatment the liquid is pumped to the percolation system. Access to both tank units is through lockable ductile iron manhole covers which are suitable for pedestrian traffic duty. The system has a desludge interval of at least one year duration.
