Abstract
Covers the design of integral highway bridges without expansion joints. Resistance to longitudinal thermal movements and braking loads is provided by the stiffness of the soil abutting the end supports and, in some cases by the stiffness of the intermediate supports. Applicable to bridges of steel, concrete and composite construction, including precast and prestressed concrete.
