Abstract

Sets out the importance of minerals to the national economy and emphasises the importance of using recycled minerals where possible to help protect the environment.

Consultation closed on 28 February 2005. To be read with Consultation paper on annexes to minerals policy statement 1: planning and minerals - supply of aggregates, brick clay, building and roofing stone, and onshore oil and gas, in England (ODPM, 2005). Superseded by Minerals Policy Statement (MPS) 1: Planning and minerals (DCLG, 2006).
