Abstract
Highlights the elements of design for use in the geometric design of roads, including the new 2+1 road type. It is modelled on TD 9/04, with the elements for 2+1 added. Design standards for 2+1 roads are also given, including details of cross-sections and junctions.
Document History
The layout and format of this Standard are modelled closely on the UK Highways Agency’s Standard TD 9/93. Except in Chapters 5 and 9, paragraph and figure numbering follows that of TD 9/93 wherever practicable.

The National Roads Authority's (NRA) primary function, under the Roads Act 1993, was to secure the provision of a safe and efficient network of National roads. They were responsible for the planning and supervision of construction and maintenance, publishing the NRA DMRB and NRA MCDRW. In 2016 the NRA merged with the Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) to form a new organisation, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).
