Abstract
Shows some of the creative ways in which Accident and Emergency departments across the NHS are meeting the challenges they face and improving patients' experiences. It is not comprehensive or prescriptive but offers advice based on the practical experience of NHS staff. Examines recent research findings, explores the implications for A and E departments and cites examples of good practice already in use in trusts. Not every scheme featured is directly applicable, but all are adaptable.
