Abstract
Provides guidance and advice to those involved in the design and construction of new and altered works, plant and equipment capable of affecting the safety of railways, tramways or other guided transport systems, which require approval under the Railways and Other Transport Systems (Approval of Works, Plant and Equipment) Regulations 1994. The recent reintroduction of tramways (light rail transits) such as the Manchester Metrolink and the Sheffield Supertram has created challenges especially their integration within existing highways.
