Abstract
Describes prime movers, such as reciprocating engines and combustion and steam turbines, and their characteristics for various uses, including generators and compressors used for compressing refrigerants and other gases. Related issues, such as fuels, lubricants, superchargers, instruments, noise, vibrations, and maintenance, are discussed for each of type of prime mover. Heat recovery, electrical power and control systems, design concepts, plant auxiliaries, installation, feasibility, utilisation systems, and cogeneration-related regulatory issues are also discussed.
