Abstract
Covers work with asbestos requiring a licence under the Asbestos (Licensing) Regulations 1983 (as amended). Provides an overview of its health effects and the law. Explains the licensing system, training that should be given to the various types of personnel involved in removal work, and the provision, use and maintenance of personal protective equipment. Also considers enclosures for work with asbestos-containing materials (ACMs), controlled techniques for their removal and repair (including waste disposal), and decontamination.
