Abstract
Demonstrates the benefits of sustainable design, emphasising its development as an economically viable and profitable option. Identifies current problems which demand the employment of a new holistic approach to sustainability. Details the issues, and provides a range of potential solutions and techniques that can be applied by the architect and urban designer at both the building and urban scale. Also provides examples of good practice and guidelines for future development, showing how sustainability has been developed to provide tangible benefits, not only to the environment, but also to users and designers.
