Abstract
Consults on proposals for new guidance on the consenting arrangements for overhead power lines, particularly with regard to the benefits or drawbacks of allowing the use of "design successors"; the benefits or drawbacks of allowing minor changes in National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the acquiescence of the local planning authority, but without requiring fresh consent; maintaining the current bar on exemptions for lines within Sites of Special Scientific Interest; the benefits or drawbacks of DTI withdrawing its oversight; and the costs and benefits assessment of such changes.
