Abstract
Outlines regeneration policy in the coalfield areas since the late 1990s, assesses the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of the coalfield programmes - the National Coalfields Programme run by English Partnerships, the Coalfields Regeneration Trust and the Coalfields Enterprise Fund, explores regeneration progress in the coalfields since the late 1990s, and evaluates the impact of the programmes and remaining problems.
