Abstract

Provides an interpretation of the waste acceptance requirements of the Landfill (England and Wales) Regulations 2002 (as amended). Summarises the timetables in which the new requirements come into force. Discusses prohibited wastes. Provides an overview of landfill classification, and sets out the related requirements of waste acceptance criteria, waste characterisation and testing. Distinguishes the waste acceptance criteria for inert, non-hazardous landfills. Considers special cases, site-specific risk assessment and treatment. Offers guidance on the decision-making process.
