Abstract
Presents a consultation on the draft of the Mayor of London Order and the draft replacement to Government Office for London Circular 1/2000. These documents implement and explain the provisions in the Greater London Authority Act 2007, which gives the Mayor new planning powers in relation to London Boroughs' Local Development Schemes and over some planning applications of strategic importance. The draft Mayor of London Order sets out which planning applications must be referred to the Mayor, the process for considering them and the test the Mayor must apply to decide whether his intervention would be justified. The Circular explains how the Mayor's new powers will operate as well as the procedures for preparing the Mayor's Spatial Development Strategy.
