Abstract
Describes how the ‘five-step’ approach to fire risk assessment can be applied to complex healthcare premises. Presents guidance on fire precautions and management measures, and an example of how the fire risk assessment can be recorded. Considers factors that affect fire safety in healthcare premises: physical precautions, fire prevention, those at risk from fire, appropriate management policies and procedures; and the availability of sufficient adequately trained staff.
