Abstract
Explains the procedure for assessment of houses, including the scoring and weighting system, for this national standard. Discusses the environmental issues to be assessed, performance requirements and their evaluation, and the evidence required to confirm performance evaluation. Provides calculation algorithms, checklists and other tools which are part of the assessment method.

April 2008 revision - supersedes the September 2007 version. Drafted by the BREEAM Centre at the Building Research Establishment. Replaces the EcoHomes scheme with regard to new developments. The Code for Sustainable Homes was launched in December 2006 with the publication of ‘Code for Sustainable Homes: a step change in sustainable home building practice' (DCLG) and came into effect April 2007.
