Abstract
Makes the case for marine treatment as an environmentally acceptable means for the treatment of wastewater. Demonstrates the importance of marine treatment to the UK water industry. Sets out the environmental and hydraulic design concepts necessary to meet water quality objectives. Supports the planning and execution of a data collection exercise necessary to position the outfall pipeline and associated head-works. Outlines the relevant factors affecting the choice of head-works processes at coastal locations together with storm overflow arrangements.
