Publication Year

2008

Document Status

Withdrawn

Abstract

Seeks views on establishing and consolidating in one place regulations prescribing offences and penalties for infringement of EC Regulation 842/2006 on certain fluorinated greenhouse gases (F gases). The new regulations will set out requirements for leakage checking, reporting, labelling and enforcement. The ultimate aim is to meet the principles of the Kyoto Protocol on combating climate change, through containment, prevention and reducing emissions of fluorinated greenhouse gases. Industries targeted include fire protection, mobile air-conditioning (MAC), high voltage (HV) switchgear, solvent cleaning and stationary refrigeration and air-conditioning (SRAC). This impact assessment examines the options, recommending compliance with legal requirements. Opinion gathered during the consultation process regarding certification and registration of personnel and companies is particularly sought.
