Abstract
Assesses the suitability of current regulatory tests for evaluating the gas-tightness of chimneys and flues. Aimed to: identify the existing test standards along with proposed (draft British and European) standards and to review the procedures contained in these for testing the performance and gas tightness of flues; consult the key stakeholders in industry to identify their views on the usefulness of existing test methods and explore perceptions about possible flaws in the tests, ambiguity in the guidance or practical difficulties in implementing the tests; and develop an outline programme for testing flues and chimneys in-situ to establish the robustness of the test methods recommended in Approved Document J (2002).
