Abstract

Relates research into the potential for CKD as a filler in asphalt. Describes two laboratory studies: one where five different mixture types manufactured both with CKD and limestone, another concentrating on workability and water sensitivity together with the composition of three sources of CKD. Also reports a pilot-scale trial involving the plant manufacture and laying of both binder course and surface mixtures with and without CKD as the filler.
