Abstract

Compiles abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the causes and treatment of ground settlement, for example under highway embankments, adjacent to tunnel excavations, on sloping land and in seismic areas. Abstracts cover methodology for prediction of field settlement, monitoring and instrumentation, assessment methods and modelling. Some also address methods to avoid or overcome settlement problems, for example by drainage, reinforcement or stabilisation.
