Abstract

Describes the latest stage in experiments undertaken to determine whether detailed imaging of the road surface has potential to be applied to the measurement of skid resistance. Relates work collecting images on the TRL research track from a moving vehicle, and compares parameters derived from them with skid resistance measured more conventionally. Uses algorithms developed earlier in the project. Reviews alternative roughness calculation methods. Covers data capture, inspection of images an image quality.
