Comprises a companion guide to Planning policy statement 5: Planning for the historic environment, aiming to assist local authorities, owners, applicants and other interested parties in implementing PPS 5 and to help in the interpretation of policies within the PPS.

To be read with Planning policy statement 5: planning for the historic environment (DCLG, 2010). Published in conjunction with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and English Heritage. No longer applicable as the planning policy to which it refers has been superseded by National planning policy framework (DCLG, 2012).
