Abstract
Defines imposed loads (models and representative values) associated with road traffic, pedestrian actions and rail traffic which include, when relevant, dynamic effects and centrifugal, braking and acceleration actions and actions for accidental design situations. Imposed loads defined are intended to be used for the design of new bridges, including piers, abutments, upstand walls, wing walls and flank walls etc. and their foundations.
Document History
Superseded by BS EN 1991-2:2023. This document is considered to be a first generation Eurocode and is the applicable standard for building and civil engineering works constructed in the UK. A period now exists to prepare for the transition between first and second generation Eurocodes. First generation Eurocodes will be withdrawn by BSI on 30 March 2028 and will be replaced by second generation Eurocodes. Supersedes DD ENV 1991-3:2000. Supersedes BS 5400-1:1988 and BS 5400-2:1978. BS 5400-2:1978 will not be fully superseded until publication of Annex A.2 to BS EN 1990:2002. Amendment 15508 is Corrigendum No.1. dated 15 December 2004 - Addition of supersession details. Amendment dated 30 April 2010 - Implementation of CEN corrigendum February 2010. To enable EN 1991-2 to be used in the UK, the NDPs will be published in a National Annex which will be made available by BSI in due course, after public consultation has taken place.
