Abstract

Deals with the following requirements; J1 air supply; J2 discharge of products of combustion; J2A warning of release of carbon monoxide; J3 protection of building; J4 provision of information; J5 protection of liquid fuel storage systems; J6 protection against pollution.

Copyright date 2010. Comes into effect 1 October 2010 and will replace the 2002 edition (ODPM). Changes introduced by this 2010 edition include: new guidance for access to visually inspect concealed flues (section 1), guidance for carbon monoxide alarms where solid fuel appliances are installed, diagram clarification for flue outlet clearances relative to adjacent pitched roofs and flexibility introduced for hearths and wall clearances for solid fuel appliances to reflect modern appliances (section 2), an increase in the guidance for permanent ventilation openings for open flued appliances in very airtight houses (sections 2, 3 and 4), the scope of oil burning installations has been widened to include liquid biofuel and blends (section 4), expansion of the guidance on secondary containment for oil tanks to include locations in inner protection zone as detailed in Environment Agency groundwater source map (section 5) and details of European designation system for flue and chimney products is provided in appendix G.
