Abstract
Relates a wind tunnel study undertaken to investigate wind conditions over the roofs of a range of typical high-rise buildings and a large plan-form building typical of a retail store. The study intended to measure wind speed-up factors and to use the results to develop a simplified methodology that can be used for determining the optimum positioning of wind turbines. Results encompass mean wind speed variation and turbulence intensity variation with height, and characterisation of the separated flow region.
