Research Report 885 Assessment of current guidance in relation to safe carriageway crossing (CIS53) on high speed roads

Publication Year

2011

Document Status

Abstract

This research paper broadly supports the rules set out in earlier guidance published in 2000 relating to crossing a carriageway on foot, but recognises that in some traffic flows on motorways, crossing may be impossible in practice for much of the day. At some rates of traffic, site specific assessment should be carried out to determine if there are sufficient safe gaps for crossing.

Document History

This document may not reflect current standards and regulations but is available for reference only. Prepared by the Health and Safety Laboratory. This research paper is based on Construction Information Sheet 53.
