Abstract
Encourages investigating savings which may be achieved through water-efficiency measures. Aims to encourage the efficient management of water and to promote the economic and environmental benefits of doing so. Examines water-management decisions in the context of patient health and well-being, social and behavioural aspects and available and appropriate technology. Outlines methods for auditing facilities, discusses common areas of high water use and technical solutions and provides guidance on establishing social and behavioural aspects. Appropriate use of technology and a clear definition of responsibilities are also outlined.

Its work included setting national standards, shaping the direction of health and social care services and promoting healthier living. Publications included Space for Health: Technical Manuals, as well as the Health Building Notes, Health Technical Memorandums, and White Papers.
