Abstract
Covers design, materials, durability, ultimate limit states, serviceability limit states, joints, tests and durability of fasteners. Applicable to cold-formed aluminium products made from hot rolled or cold rolled sheet or strip, from processes such as cold-rolled forming or press-breaking. Details methods for stressed-skin design, design by calculation and design assisted by testing.

Superseded by BS EN 1999-1-4:2023. This document is considered to be a first generation Eurocode and is the applicable standard for building and civil engineering works constructed in the UK. A period now exists to prepare for the transition between first and second generation Eurocodes. First generation Eurocodes will be withdrawn by BSI on 30 March 2028 and will be replaced by second generation Eurocodes. Supersedes BS 8118-1:1991 and BS EN 1999-1-4:2007. To be used with NA to BS EN 1999-1-5:2007:2009. Amendment dated 31 August 2010 - Implementation of CEN corrigendum November 2009. Amendment dated 30 November 2011 - Implementation of CEN amendment A1:2011. To enable EN 1999 to be used in the UK, the NDPs have been published in a National Annex.
