Abstract
Details are given for the citation, coming into effect and interpretation of the regulations. Guidance is given on who is excluded from the regulations. Subjects covered include the risk assessment, various preventive and protective measures, health and safety arrangements, including planning, organisation, control, monitoring and review. Guidance is given on health surveillance and assistance measures, and the procedures to be established for danger areas. Information for employees and contacts with external services are covered. Advice is given for the self-employed or those working for a host employer. Training, duties, temporary workers, new or expectant mothers and young persons are also covered.

This ACOP replaces that associated with the 1992 Regulations. Practical advice on how to comply with the law is given. This Code has special legal status whereby if you are prosecuted for breach of health and safety law, and it is proved you did not follow the relevant provisions of the Code, you will need to show other ways in which you have complied with the law or a court will find you at fault. 2011 reprint. Approved for use in Northern Ireland. Superseded by 2012 reprint.
