Abstract
Covers key themes including the need for a robust regime of safety inspection and a planned investment programme based on whole life costs which are fundamental to highway maintenance. Covers asset and risk management and gives advice on the implications of the new Traffic Management Act 2004. Updated in 2009 to reflect changes to statutory duties and developments and advances in good practice.
