Abstract

To ensure residential special schools meet national minimum standards regarding the safeguarding and welfare of the children for whom residential accommodation is provided. Residential special schools providing residential accommodation for any child for more than 295 days a year are covered by the National minimum standards for children's homes regulations 2001. Covers welfare support, premises, staffing, organisation and management.
