Abstract
Deals with thermal and mechanical actions on structures exposed to fire - the methods given are applicable to buildings, with a fire load related to the building and its occupancy. Covers: structural fire design procedure; thermal actions for temperature analysis; and mechanical actions for structural analysis.

Superseded by BS EN 1991-1-2:2024. This document is considered to be a first generation Eurocode and is the applicable standard for building and civil engineering works constructed in the UK. A period now exists to prepare for the transition between first and second generation Eurocodes. First generation Eurocodes will be withdrawn by BSI on 30 March 2028 and will be replaced by second generation Eurocodes. Supersedes DD ENV 1991-2-2:1996. Amendment dated 31 May 2009 - Incorporating CEN corrigendum March 2009. Amendment dated 28 February 2013 - Incorporating CEN corrigendum February 2013 (consolidating corrigenda March 2009 and November 2012). To enable BS EN 1991-1-2:2002 to be used in the UK the latest version of the NA to this Standard containing these NDPs should also be used. At the time of publication, it is NA to BS EN 1991-1-2:2002.
